Photographs of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina by David Burnett

David Burnett's website

A graphic novel, A.D: New Orleans After the Deluge by Josh Neufeld was published this month. It depicts real life accounts of Hurricane Katrina survivors with beautiful illustrations. I would love to buy it, but I'm poor so I read a little bit of the webcomic and was very impressed. There are links next to a lot of the illustrations that take you to actual photographs and video footage.

Martha Cooper

How rare are pivotal women street photographers? She has been shooting New York graffiti culture since the 1970's. I love her photographs of children.

Color pencil with highlights of acrylic.
These shots do not do the unbelievable detail any justice.
